'The ‘Great Ludlow Get Together’ Street Party - a celebration of all we have in common.

As you may know, the Jo Cox Foundation was set up in 2016 to advance the causes in which she believed and to bring together people and organisations to fight for a fairer, kinder and more tolerant world.

The Fringe Festival and P4L (People for Ludlow) support these sentiments and especially Jo's belief that 'we are far more united and have more in common than that which divides us'. Last year, we organised a 'Street Party' on Sunday 18th June on Ludlow's Event Square. Residents and visitors were invited to bring food to share - although all were welcome even if they were unable to contribute food – and to socialise in a comfortable and relaxed setting. It was a great success and all who came along urged us to make it an annual event.

We would, therefore, like to organise another street party this year but it will be held on a Saturday (to attract more Ludlow residents) and we plan wider publicity and more entertainment. The event will be held on SATURDAY JUNE 30th from 11am until 4pm (the last Saturday of the Fringe Festival) and, as well as food to share, we shall have musical entertainment and fun things to do for the children.

I am writing now to ask for your help in promoting the event through your membership and also to see if you have any volunteers who could help us on the day. As you can imagine, we were kept very busy last year with only 4-5 volunteers and, if (as we hope) we attract many more people this year, we will need more hands on deck. We would like volunteers to help set up (from 9am) and to assist with organising the food and tidying up at the end of the afternoon; even an hour or two would be a great help.

We also need to source large marquees (in case of inclement weather) and sound equipment, hopefully on a free, or minimal charge, basis and would welcome any suggestions you have for that.

I do hope you will support us and do, please. contact me if you need more information.

Kind Regards,

Denise Thompson (on behalf of the Fringe Festival and P4L)'
